How to Properly Mix and Spray SoyFuze for Effective Roof Treatment
Applying SoyFuze is a simple, powerful way to restore aging asphalt shingles, extend roof life, and boost curb appeal—all with an eco-friendly formula made from 100% bio-based soy oil. To get the best results, proper mixing and application techniques are key. These really are not soy oil roof COATINGS as many call it. Coatings stay at the surface, while SoyFuze dives deep, the entire way through the shingles. The oil fuses into the asphalt and will not rinse away. This really is a treatment and shingle revitalizer!
Whether you’re a first-time DIY user or a professional applicator, this guide walks you through the right way of mixing and spraying soy oil rejuvenation, specifically the SoyFuze product.
Step 1: Understanding SoyFuze Concentration
SoyFuze is shipped as a concentrated formula, and is NOT ready to spray. Please take the time after reading through this to understand why it is so important to be getting your Soy Oil Treatment in a Concentrated Form!
Concentrated Simply Means: Needs to be diluted with water at the proper ratio.
Specified Dilution ratio for concentrate is:
1 Part SoyFuze : 3 Parts Water
We DO NOT Recommend Using it any Stronger, Less Strong is Okay, But Why Add Less Life to Your Shingles???
Step 2: Mixing Instructions
You can mix SoyFuze in any vessel really….
Mixing in a 5-Gallon Bucket Works Great, In this Example:
1. Add 3 gallons of Water to the 5 Gallon Bucket
2. Slowly Add 1 gallon of SoyFuze (the concentrated gallon, as it ships) While Mixing
3. Mix thoroughly by recirculating (we highly recommend a paddle mixer on a drill at low to medium speed).

4. Keep agitated during application if possible (if it sits more than 30 minutes, it is a good idea to recirculate through hoses and give it another quick mix). As long as it is moving through hoses, then only a mix in your vessel is needed every 30 minutes. With that said, spraying goes fast and if mixing a small batch at a time, you will have it on the roof in no time.
5. If you have a larger drum or such, that is great. 15 gallon drums are perfect because they can still be loaded or moved. You can find them cheap in the used market. Try adding 9 gallons of water, then 3 gallons of SoyFuze for a greater amount of ready to spray product.
⚠️ Important: Always add SoyFuze to water, not vice versa, this helps to avoid solids forming and ensures even blending. Don’t worry if a bit of foaming occurs, this is completely normal.
Step 3: Spraying & Sprayer Setup
You can apply SoyFuze with a variety of sprayers:
Simple $25 Pump Up Sprayers (typically only hold 2 gallons and require LOTS of manual pumping, but worth the effort)
Hand Pump or Battery-powered backpack sprayer (great for most DIYers and Easy, will require being able to get on and off your roof with a good amount of weight on your back)
12V or gas-powered pump sprayer (great for contractors or DIYers that prefer tank on ground and a longer hose) We even have DIYers put inexpensive versions of these together as well.
Steep roofs require a sprayer that has enough power to spray tot he peaks from the top of a ladder. Please be careful and hire a pro if you are not comfortable on a ladder.
Airless paint sprayer with a fan tip (adjusted to low pressure) works as well.
Recommended Settings:
Tip type: Fan tip (e.g., 1.5–2.0 GPM, 40–60° spray angle)
Pressure: Low pressure (40 psi or less is ideal, but not crucial)
Flow Rate: Adjust for even coverage with minimum runoff
Application Best Practices
Start at the bottom of the roof and work your way up avoiding stepping where you sprayed. Of course in your last section you will work your way down to your exit point / ladder. Starting at the top is typically done when spraying unwalkable roofs. Plan for extra product if spraying from a ladder on an unwalkable roof.
Apply a smooth, even coat to the shingle surface, it should look milky/white. A liitle run down is good, but too much rundown means wasted product.
Overlap passes slightly to avoid missed spots.
Avoid Excess Runoff. A small amount of run down such as a shingle or two is fine. A lot going into your Gutters is Not Doing You Any Good.
Ideal Weather Conditions:
Dry Shingles (were not rained on recently)
No rain for 24 hours, ideally 48 hours but not as crtitical
Temps between 50°F and 90°F are Perfect
Product will absorb quickly with the majority of Flexibility and Properties formed in the first 24 hours, after 3 days it has evened out internally 100%.
Coverage Guide
RTS = (ready to spray diluted product)
Roof Condition Mix Ratio Coverage Rate
Newer (perhaps 5 to 10 years of age) = 1 gallon of RTS per 125 SF of Shingles
Dry, brittle shingles (perhaps 10 to 25 years of age) = 1 gallon per 100 SF of Shingles
Always measure roof square footage before application (see our Google Earth guide).
Final Tips for Success
Clean your sprayer with warm water and a mild degreaser after use as soon as the application is complete.
Store leftover SoyFuze in a sealed container out of direct sunlight.
Don’t apply on wet roofs or if rain is in the forecast within 24 hours.
Why Proper Application Matters
SoyFuze works by penetrating asphalt shingles, restoring flexibility, and slowing the aging process. When mixed and sprayed correctly, you’ll maximize product effectiveness, save on costs, and ensure beautiful, long-lasting results.
